iPad Pro Apps for a Front-End Web Developer

June 9, 2019

There are a few people who are trying to justify that an iPad Pro can replace your laptop, well, it won’t. Until iPad OS is available, that is.

First, it’s always better or faster – or probably because we’re used to it – to use a mouse or a trackpad, but those won’t work on an iPad Pro for now. For quick edits, blogging and ultra mobility, iPads are better because it packs better battery power than laptops and it’s much lighter.

Not all programs/apps that we use on laptops/desktops are available on an iPad Pro right now so you will have to make do with what’s available.

Mockups/Wireframes

Adobe Comp CC
Adobe Comp Share

I actually thought you could create mockups or wireframes on Adobe XD for iOS, but sadly though, it won’t. You can only use Adobe XD on iOS for viewing. Good thing there’s Adobe Comp – which is free – and you can send the file to Photoshop / Illustrator, which Adobe XD doesn’t do.

File Edits

FTP Client Pro

I usually research on apps before buying one, and I tell you, this one, I never had any problems with.

  1. You don’t have to download the file that you want to edit
  2. It’s easy to use
  3. It’s cheap!

FTP Client Pro is only $3.99, you can edit your files, upload images, supports FTP and SFTPS, text editor functionality and a lot more.

Image Editing

Let’s stick with free apps!

There are a lot of free apps you can use for image editing, depending on the purpose and how you want to use it, here are a few:

  • Adobe Photoshop Mix
  • Adobe PS Express
  • Adobe Sketch
  • Adobe Draw
  • Adobe Lightroom

I’m so excited for September where they will release iPadOS, using a mouse, and all the changes for file management will be a game-changer.
