Why do some people want to remove the Powered by WordPress link?

It gives the “customized look” feel to any website and it looks like you hired a professional web developer, for those who doesn’t know what WordPress is.

Here’s what to remove on the footer.php file from the default WordPress themes.

The downside of this though, is you need to remove this again after every theme update, or you can use a child theme, (Here’s a simple way to create a child theme. ) then upload the updated copy of the footer.php file to the child theme folder.

For other themes, especially the paid ones, it has options to edit the Powered By link, if those are not removed, that is. It’s normally in the Theme Options settings.
