The AMP Plugin has 3 template modes:
Native
It reuses the active theme’s templates but does not use separate URLs for AMP.
The Good:
This automatically converts your current theme to AMP, which is great if you have a responsive theme.
The Bad:
Not all scripts are working since AMP does not allow any script outside of it’s own libraries. A good example is this site, it’s using a lot of scripts and it stopped working on AMP not just on mobile but also on desktop view.
PageSpeed Score on Desktop
With AMP Disabled 72 | With AMP Enabled 99 |
PageSpeed Score on Mobile
With AMP Disabled 34 | With AMP Enabled 93 |
Paired
It reuses the active theme’s templates but uses separate URLs for AMP, ex: https://www.yoururl.com/?amp
PageSpeed on Mobile
With AMP Disabled 34 | With AMP Enabled 85 |
Classic
It does not use your active theme’s templates but a uses a really simple classic template.
I’m not really sure how I feel about having different URLs on desktop and mobile view.
It also has AMP font settings next to the editor.
I’ll start testing another AMP plugin.
